When I was preparing to post about Goya I learned about his series called The Black Paintings ,which is a racist title, tho Goya didn’t name them that, historians did, whatever.  I guess the most famous one is called Saturn Devouring His Son which I found to be terrifying!  If you want to see it or read more about it just click the above link to the wikipedia page or read about it at your local library!  I definitely will be.  He painted these all on the walls of his house.

There are fourteen paintings total.  “The paintings were not commissioned and were not meant to leave his home. It is likely that the artist never intended the works for public exhibition: ‘…these paintings are as close to being hermetically private as any that have ever been produced in the history of Western art.’”
